Your NKBA Central Florida Chapter wins the NKBA Chapter Program of the Year Award!

The National Kitchen and Bath Association has named as co-winners of the Chapter program of the Year 2009, your Central Florida Chapter for "History in the Making! Kitchen Renovation at Casa Feliz" and the Susquehanna Valley Chapter for "The DNA of Design". The award was presented to Chapter President Mark Warren at KBIS in Chicago. The chapters will split the $1000 grand prize.

In addition, the Central Florida Chapter also was awarded First Place in the Programming Contest for Region 4 of the NKBA's eight regions.

Lead-Based Paint Removal Rules for Contractors In Effect April 22, 2010

Since April 22, 2010, the EPA's rules regarding lead renovation went into effect. Under the rules, contractors performing work that disturbs lead-based paint in housing, childcare facilities and schools built before 1978 must follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination. Those practices include posting warning signs for occupants and visitors, using disposable plastic drop cloths, cleaning the work area with HEPA vacuuming, and wet washing. The guidelines also require that contractors are certified in lead removal through a mandatory training course.

2009 Student Design Contest Winners Announced!

Congratulations to the students who participated in the Student Design Contest and to the following winners that were announced at the January 2010 NKBA meeting.  A record was established at The Westye Group as there were 78 in the room for Chef Will's Wolf Product Demo!!!  Thank you to those who were standing and plan to be our guest at one of the upcoming Wolf Product Demonstrations!

Central Florida Chapter Members make donations for Thanksgiving Meals.

Thanks to the generosity of our members that attended the November 19th Chapter Meeting, We collected and donated 62 pounds of can foods and $200 in cash to Metropolitan Ministries in the Tampa area for their turkey purchases.  Thanks for being a part of our team to make a difference to several lives during Thanksgiving!
